*  If an LOA was issued prior to February 6, 2006, it will expire 24 months from the date it was written.  A new LOA application (called an OPSS Part 91 automated LOA) must then be requested through the FSDO, using the same requirements as for initial authorization. We recommend contacting your Flight Standards District Office (FSDO) 60 days prior to this expiration date to determine whether they will require a new application package. After the new LOA is issued, there will be no 24 month renewal requirement.

*  If an LOA was issued after February 6, 2006, it will be referred to as an OPSS Part 91 automated LOA.  With this new LOA, there will no longer be a 24-month renewal requirement. LOAs issued after this date can, however, become invalid for the following reasons:

  • The operator ceases to be the operator of the aircraft listed on the LOA                  citation_3_ext.jpg
  • The person who signed the LOA relinquishes responsibility
  • The aircraft changes ownership
  • An aircraft changes nationality numbers

If an LOA is invalid for any of these reasons, it must be returned to the issuing office within 10 calendar days from the date it becomes invalid.

Call us 316-729-1697, we can help with any of the above issues!
